Lee
Lee Roy Selmon's story is a mix of an athletic scholarship to his family with service to his community. First family, he's the youngest of nine children born to Lucious and Jessie Semon who grew up on a farm in Eufala, Oklahoma. He played football along with three brothers in Oklahoma. All three brothers were All-Americans. The year 1973 was the first time Lee Roy and Lucious Jr. Dewey were the first-teamers for a single season. Lee Roy received the Outland and Lombardi Awards for being the most effective lineman in the country. Over the course of his three years as a starter Oklahoma was 32-1-1 and won two national championships. He was awarded a third award in 1975. In addition, he was referred to as a National Football Foundation Student-Athlete. Selmon obtained his qualification in the field of education. Fourth service In the college Lee Roy devoted ten hours each week on volunteer work. In Tampa the Buccaneers, he was a player for the Buccaneers for nine seasons, and eventually became an all-pro. He also began a career in the field of business. In 1988, he joined the ranks of an account representative for Tampa's First Florida Bank. He was also a part of the following organisations: Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. It's no wonder the man was named among the top 10 young men in the country in 1982 by the Junior Chamber of Commerce in 1982. Lee Roy was 6'2" tall and weighed 265 pounds at the time playing in the college football league. As of 1975, Lee Roy led the team. He joined his current position at University of South Florida as associate director of athletics. He was elected to the College Football Hall of Fame in 1988. He was also named to the GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame in 1994, and then the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1995. In 1989, the Oklahoma City Chapter of the National Football Foundation in 1989 presented the Distinguished American Award to his parents, Mr. and Mrs.. Lucious Selmon Sr. Henry Bellmon was the Oklahoma Governor of Oklahoma who conferred this award.
